Class B with key number 78

Law

  • With a class B driving licence with key number 78 (B78), you may only drive vehicles with automatic transmission.
     
  • After obtaining the class B driving licence with key number 78, you can complete the driver training course for key number 197.
     
  • After this driver training course, you will also be authorised to drive cars with a manual transmission.

Your requirements

  • Start of training minimum age 17,5 years -> issue of driving licence minimum age 18 years
     
  • Start of training Minimum age 16.5 years -> Issue of driving licence Minimum age 17 years with BF17 accompanied driving

Your vehicle

Your training will take place on a car with automatic transmission.

After successfully passing the exam, you will only be allowed to drive cars with automatic transmission.

If you would like to drive cars with manual transmission afterwards, you must complete the short driver training course for key number 197.

To ensure your safety and have fun during your training, you will drive the latest models of top-equipped vehicles.

Professional maintenance and cleanliness of our vehicles is a matter of course.
 

Motor vehicles:

  • only with automatic transmission
     
  • up to 3500 kg permissible total mass
     
  • also with trailer up to max. 750 kg permissible total mass or
     
  • with trailer over 750 kg permissible total mass, provided that the permissible total mass of towing vehicle and trailer is max. 3500 kg.


For larger trailers, we also recommend driver training class B with key number 96 without a exam or class BE.

Your theoretical lessons

Required number if no previous possession of a driving licence class:

  • 12 theory sessions of 90 minutes each basic knowledge
     
  • 2 theory sessions of 90 minutes each especially for licenses class B
     


Required number for previous possession of a driving licence category:

  • 6 theory sessions of 90 minutes each of basic knowledge
     
  • 2 theory sessions of 90 minutes each especially for licenses class B

For efficient training, we recommend at least 2 driving appointments (90 minutes each) per week.

Training lesson

  • In the training lessons, you train the basic driving tasks (parking, emergency braking, reversing) and driving within the city.
     
  • The number of training lessons is not specified in the learner driver training regulations and is therefore carried out individually depending on the learner driver's level of ability.
     
  • The number of training lessons expected in order to pass the exam cannot be precisely predicted at the start of training.
     
  • Without prior knowledge, the average is approx. 11 - 16 driving appointments (90 minutes each).
     
  • Provided that all 5 modules on the drive easy simulator have been completed beforehand and the tips “Reduce the number of practice drives” under Practical training have been followed.
     
  • However, depending on your level of ability, you may need fewer or more training lessons.

Special lesson

In the 6 driving appointments special lessons (90 minutes each), you only train to drive outside the city.

The special lessons are also known as statutory compulsory lessons.
